About Broxton T. Prater

Broxton T. Prater

Broxton is a meticulous and dedicated attorney with substantial courtroom experience, and a disciplined, principled commitment to doing the work right – for every client. Her approach was formed early in her career while working in the Clerk’s Office at the Supreme Court of the United States, where she gained invaluable exposure to the legal system at its highest and most complex level. From there her work spanned across a number of practice areas: criminal prosecution, civil litigation, and high-level contract negotiation—giving her the well-rounded legal judgment that clients value in matters affecting their families, futures, and livelihoods.

Following her time at the United States Supreme Court, Broxton remained in the D.C. area handling contracts at Cote Orphan for the former Director of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Orphan Product Development. Here, she reviewed, negotiated, managed and oversaw the successful execution of millions of dollars in service contracts.

Though she valued her time in D.C. Broxton returned to the Finger Lakes Region to live in the community where she grew up. While home, she became an Assistant District Attorney. In this role, she managed cases from the earliest investigative stages through trial. Her work required careful preparation, clear communication, and the ability to guide people through some of the most stressful moments of their lives—skills that translate directly into her family law and estate planning practice. Clients benefit from her steady presence, her ability to break down complex issues, and her commitment to protecting their interests with both strength and empathy.

Before transitioning her focus to client-centered legal services at BTP Law, Broxton returned to contract management as an Assistant County Attorney, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating thousands of contracts for Ontario County. This municipal experience combined with her private-sector background, gives her a strong foundation in business operations, risk assessment, and strategic decision-making, insight she now brings to her business clients.

Across all practice areas, Broxton is known for her integrity, preparation, and genuine dedication to the people she serves. Whether assisting someone through a family matter, guiding a family through estate planning, probate, or estate administration, or advising a business owner on legal strategy, she approaches every client with professionalism, respect, and a sincere desire to make the process as clear and manageable as possible.
